Welcome ... Layman's Guide to Computers

Are you new to using computers? Do you wonder what people are talking about when you hear them use terms like megabytes, gigabytes, flash or jump drive, etc? Would you like to know how to keep your computer clean to exend its life? Or perhaps your computer isn't performing as quickly as it did when you first purchased it.

I hope to provide an article each week to cover one of these and other useful topics that will provide both informative explanations that you can understand along with tips and step by step guides to maintaining and using your pc.

Some of the first topics I will be covering is how to maintain the physical health of your computer. Next, I will cover all the different techniques of speeding up the performance of your pc and returning it to the type of performance you were accustomed to when you first purchased it. Other topics that will be forthcoming will include:

  • Getting to know your computer;
  • What are Operating Systems;
  • What are Applications;
  • Basic Parts of your Computer-Inside/Out;
  • How to use my Camera with my computer;
  • How to install a Printer;
  • Connecting to the Internet;
  • Computer Safety and Maintenance;
  • Basic Troubleshooting Techniques, and
  • Many more (please feel free to post suggestions or comments).

This is not a service that you will have to pay anything for; there are no catches. I love taking the mystery out of computers; this is what I hope to do with my series of articles each week.
